Established in 1935, Cipla stands for The Chemical, Industrial, Pharmaceutical Laboratories. Head Office is based in Mumbai, with plants based in Bangalore, Vikhroli, Patalganga, Kurkumbh, Goa, Baddhi.
Cipla is currently India’s second largest pharmaceutical Company in terms of sales and it produces a range of low-cost pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), prescription drugs, OTC products, and formulations. Exports constitute approximately 50% of its sales and it markets products in more than 170 coutnries. Formulations accounted for 73% of Cipla’s exports in 2006 and APIs accounted for the remaining 27%.
